The Yakut knife is a type of knife used in everyday life and hunting by the indigenous population of Yakutia.
The Yakut knife is one of the most recognizable cultural objects of Yakutia.
The geometry of such Yakutian knives is traditional, verified by centuries of application experience.
The blade of the Yakut knife is made of classic forged steel X12MF, has a pointed end, a blade only on one side and a straight butt.
A feature of the Yakut knife is the asymmetric sharpening of the blade.
Forged recess passes on one side, and this side has a concave shape.
The other side is convex, lenticular.
This shape of the blade allows the knife to "not dig" deep into the material when planing for example wood, fish or meat, and cut thin slices.
The steel of the blade should not be too hard, so that being in a campaign or in the taiga it would be possible at any time to correct the cutting edge in the field, for example, on river pebbles or just a flat stone.
The handle of the Yakut knife is made of elk horn & stabilized maple cap.
The handle is straight, large and long enough to ensure a firm grip.
In the cross section, it is oval-ovate, with a “sharp” end directed towards the blade and devoid of any kind of stops, guards and protrusions, so as not to rub calluses during long hours of work with the knife.
The knife set includes leather sheaths.
This knife is great for hunting and fishing,
