Antique Bronze Statue Parvati Shivakami Devi Goddess 14” Very Fine Detailing
Presented is a fantastic quality antique bronze statue of the Hindu goddess
Parvati as Shivakami, Shiva's consort. We are not certain of the age of this
piece, since the subject matter is timeless, but we believe it to be from the
1800s or early 1900s. We acquired the statue from an old estate, and the patina
of the bronze certainly has some age to it, most especially on the interior of
the base. The statue is exceptionally detailed, with hand chiseled decoration
for the goddess' raiment, all done with a great deal of attention to detail and
craftsmanship. The goddess is depicted in the classical triple-bend stance, with
each hand in a mudra I am certainly not learned enough to interpret. The goddess stands on a lotus-form pedestal. In our research, statues of this size and skillful execution were not easy to find for sale, so this represents a rare opportunity.
This piece is in great overall condition. The details are really crisp.
The bronze could undoubtedly be cleaned/polished up easily enough, but we leave that to the buyer. Besides, the aged look is quite unobjectionable.
The statue stands approximately 14 inches tall, and the base measures approximately 5 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide.
The bronze weighs approximately 4 pounds.
